The Pessimist’s Guide to History: 5 out of 5

Simply put, I love this book. It covers the complete history of terrible things that happened in history, starting with the big bang. Written by Doris Flexner and Stuart Berg Flexner, this book will be sure to please those who enjoy the more miserable things in life. The book can seem a bit repetitive at times, the fact that two people decided to tabulate all of history’s terrible events gets them a star in my book. It would be impossible to cover every single calamity and disaster in history and the book does miss a few events. The great thing about this book, is that you can still read it cover-to-cover, but you can also flip open to a random page and learn about a serial killer or a little-known deadly hurricane. This book makes for a great read for any history lover, pessimist, ot both, and I would certainly recommend this book.
