REMINISCENCES OF THE GREEN REVOLUTION (2019)

Director Headshot.png

A largely forgotten conflict, the EDSA Revolutions or People Power Movements of the late 20th/early 21st century have determined the political policy of the Philippines for the past forty or so years. Mostly around self-serving government officials, another issue is the lack of care for the island’s ecology and environmental needs. This has created an undertow of radical green-terrorism along with general protest against these forces over these conflicts.

This film takes place specifically during the 2nd EDSA conflict that happened at the outset of 2001, which mostly involved students both local and from America who returned to make a difference in their home country. Eventually labeled as eco-terrorists by the Philippine government this group of ragtag young adults makes the tough decisions as to stop or continue the protest.

Personally, I feel the movie hits all the notes that an event like this should. Drama, sorrow, optimism; it feels like a true revolution organized by college students.

Easily 8 out of 10 for this short film would love to see more from the director Dean Colin Marcial and the distributor at SideStreetStudios.com.
